…and so as I traveled this journey of success, I stumbled upon and old familiar instructor. I giggled under my breath then gave him a big, cheesy smile with a nod. I wanted him to know that I recognized that he was there [rolling eyes].......... again.
“Hello Failure my old friend” I said. Failure stared at me for a moment before he asked me this question. "Aren't you afraid of me?" I laughed and said, “at my age NO! I would like to think that I have matured into my big girl panties by now.
Maybe its the gray hair but, I haven't sang "Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me" for quite some time now.
Failure then took off his coat and began walking with me down the road. Failure was not there to slow me down, but rather help me learn that I can change direction in a pivotal moment of my life.
I wish I had learned this sooner, but as we walked I had the understanding that Failure had often been my greatest motivator. I looked at him and gave him a wink. It was in that moment I realized that I am now at total ease in the presence of failure. I took a deep cleansing breath, exhaled all the stress of the day, then let out the biggest chuckle. You know you could have told me this sooner [rolling eyes again]. Failure shruged his shoulders and we kept on walking.
Then the glow of the peachy sunset shimmered across my cheeks. That is when I felt something inside of me grow. I felt stronger, more knowledgeable, and driven.
Failure stoped, then reached out his arms, to embrace me with a hug. “Now grow, and go further than you have ever gone before”, He said with a squeeze. We said our goodbyes knowing that we'd soon see each other again.
I then thanked God for the wisdom of Failure and wondered why I had been afraid of him in my youth.
Failure Taught Me:
~ what paths not to take. For every failure there is an alternative coarse of action.
~ Failure had taught me it is ok to stumble as long as I get back up again.
~Failure is simply a new opportunity to go back to the drawing board with a new perspective.
~ Failure taught me when I try again, I do so with a greater knowledge.
~Failure taught me that every lesson learned is a movement in the right direction.
~ Failure built up my tenacity, and that attitude is really the key to success.
~Failure taught me the difference between falling down and quitting.
When you learn to embrace Failure, it becomes a part of your “Bridge to Success.
